Hyderabad, March 19: The draft of Charminar pedestrian project was prepared 11 years ago and now to put it into action GHMC has started digging work on all roads leading to Charminar including Charminar to Chowk (lad bazaar), Charminar to Gulzar house and Charminar to Sardar Mahal. The officials who began the project on January 24, 2011 had left the work as it was for the last two and a half months while it should have been completed within 4 months.
Digging work was done on Gulzar house road as per the project and the work of laying granite flooring began but now it was stopped in the middle of the work.
There are big and deep pits everywhere on roads. As the work is left unfinished locals, traders, and the small businessmen doing their business on footpaths face problems daily.
The stones brought here for flooring and the piles of excavated soil are scattered all over the road. In these circumstances commuters find it hard to walk on the road.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has planned to spend 7.29 crore on Charminar pedestrian project but slow going of the project and unfinished work are giving a hard time to the tourist coming to visit the Charminar.
