Indian Open Beach Volley Ball competitions would be held in September on Visakhapatnam Beach. As many as 64 leading teams across the globe would be battling for four days for a prize of $1,50,000.
The event is sponsored by Federation Internationale De Volleyball (FIVB) at Ramakrishna Beach from September 5 to 8 which would be televised live by leading sports networks in India and abroad. Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has agreed to become Chief Patron of the organizing committee to ensure successful conduct of the event.
Speaking to the media in the Secretariat, Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs Vatti Vasant Kumar said the Beach edition of this exciting sports has even larger followers throughout the coastal belt. The first edition of the exciting and fascinating event with 32 top teams of both Men and Women across the globe would entertain the lovers of the game at Vizag. VFI Secretary K. Murugan and LSM Managing Director S.S. Dasgupta said they were delighted that the State government has come forward “to help us in our endeavour” to host event of this magnitude at Vizag. (NSS)
