Buoyed by results in Uttar Pradesh panchayat polls, BSP supremo Mayawati today asked her cadre to remain alert to the designs of rivals, especially “communal agenda of BJP and company”, in the run up to 2017 assembly election.
She alleged that opposition parties would use all types of “dirty tactics” to mislead the people ahead of assembly elections in Uttar pradesh and Uttarakhand, the party said in a statement issued here.
“BSP people need to remain alert from now on, especially from communal agenda of BJP and company,” she alleged.
She reviewed the organisational functioning of the party in the two states and issued directives for completion of remaining works before assembly elections during a meeting of office-bearers of state, zone and district level units of UP and Uttarakhand today, the party said.
She said that in the Bihar assembly elections, if for any reason people were misled by the BJP, specially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then it would benefit the NDA, but would cause heavy loss to the state, it said.
“If it does not happen, then BJP will never be able to form a government in Bihar,” she said, adding that there would be satisfactory results in favour of BSP.
Referring to the just concluded elections for Kshetra and district panchayat members, Mayawati said that BSP has achieved “good success”.
She was confident that the party would do well in Zila Panchayat elections as well.
The panchayat elections are not contested on party symbols and major parties chose not to officially announce the candidates they had endorsed.
