Cricket fraternity reacts to the brutal mass shooting at a Christchurch mosque on Friday morning in which over 40 people died and over 20 people were severely injured.
Bangladesh cricket team, who are currently in New Zealand, tweeted that the team had “escaped from a mosque near Hagley Park where there were active shooters”.
Bangladesh Cricket Board spokesman Jalal Yunus said most of the team had gone to the mosque by bus and were about to go inside when the incident took place. “They are safe, but they are mentally shocked. We have asked the team to stay confined in the hotel,” Jalal said.

The 3rd Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh, which was scheduled to take place not far from the site of the attack, has been cancelled and the visitors are expected to head back home.
