BCCI rubbishes Kambli’s “confession”

Mumbai, July 14: The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday hit back at former India cricketer Vinod Kambli for his alleged remarks on Sachin Tendulkar, made as a contestant on a reality TV show.

Talking to reporters, BCCI’s Media and Finance Committee Chairman, Rajiv Shukla said that Kambli’s accusation on Tendulkar is completely baseless and that the latter has always helped youngsters.

Shukla also rubbished Kambli’s allegation that he was kept out of the team because of his caste and colour.

“BCCI has always fought against Racism. The team is selected purely on the basis of performance,” he said.

According to reports, Kambli, while subjected to a lie-detector test on a yet to be aired reality TV show, had accused Tendulkar of not helping him enough in his career.

‘‘We are very close… we were very close. He could have done a little more, but he didn’t,’’ he had said.

Kambli had also reportedly accused the BCCI of sidelining him because of his ‘caste and colour’.

‘‘I always felt discriminated because of my caste and colour by the cricket board,’’ the 37 year old said.
