New Delhi, August 10: The break in India’s international calendar has allowed the BCCI to schedule fitness tests for select players in Delhi and Mumbai.
The first batch of players, including Ishant Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Praveen Kumar, Suresh Raina and Ashish Nehra, trained today at the Feroz Shah Kotla under the supervision of coach Gary Kirsten, mental conditioner Paddy Upton and team physio Nitan Patel.
Virender Sehwag was not a part of the session in Delhi as he undergoing treatment for injured shoulder and is expected to be fit for the Champions Trophy in September.
The second batch of players will meet in Mumbai on August 11. The BCCI is also likely to hold a camp for the senior team at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore on August 25 after which the players, including MS Dhoni, will participate in the BCCI’s inaugural inter-corporate tournament between September 1-8.
India’s next international assignment is a tri-series in Sri Lanka also featuring New Zealand starting September 12.
