State Backward Classes Welfare Association leader R. Krishnaiah on Thursday called upon the women, especially BC women, to come forward socially and politically and strive for development of the society.
Speaking at a program, organized under the aegis of BC Mahila Samakhya, at BC Bhavan here, Krishnaiah strongly felt that all sections of women will be economically self-dependent only when they take active part in politics. He pointed out that women of upper castes were alone cornering all the benefits of women’s reservations granted by the government as the BC women, though dominated in population, were not coming into politics for their legitimate rights. He called upon the BC women to get politically awakened by at least 2014 and strive for achieving political power. On the occasion, Krishnaiah handed over a letter of appointment to Nasa Arundhati, who has been made president of Greater Hyderabad BC Mahila Samakhya.
Speaking on the occasion, Arundhati said that she would elicit problems of the women under Greater Hyderabad and bring them to the notice of the government for finding lasting solutions. She thanked Krishnaiah and State women’s samakhya president M. Bhagyalakshmi for her appointment.
BC Sangham leaders Srinivas Goud, Rajender, BC employees unions’ State vice-president Vijay Kumar, general secretary Samsani Srinivasa Rao, BC Sena State president Neela Venkatesh and several others were present. (NSS)
