BC Quota In Civic Polls: Das Urges All Parties To Help Pass Resolution In Assembly

APCC OBC Cell chairman Chittaranjan Das has called upon all political parties to come forward to pass a resolution in the Assembly on BC Reservations in the ensuing Local Body elections.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Wednesday, Chittaranjan Das said that no political party joined hands with the Congress when it fought for BC Reservations in Local Body elections. He said that everyone has to respect the court verdict on BC Reservations.

PCC official spokesperson Dr N, Thulasi Reddy said that Congress has allocated 60.3 percent seats to the BCs in the last Local Body elections. But now, the court wanted that the reservations should not exceed 50 per cent, he said, adding that implementation of BC reservations would be disturbed following the court verdict. The State government would find a way-out to overcome the problem, he added.

Dr Reddy said that it was not proper to the Opposition parties to criticize the Congress by alleging that the ruling party was not conducting the Local Body elections due to scare of defeat. (NSS)
