BC-E Candidates may contest from BC reserved seats – Municipal Elections 2014 – Clarification issued by Election Authorities.
On persistent perusal of State President Mr. Iftequaruddin Ahmed. Ahmed Pradesh State Muslims Reservation Front vide his representation dated 3rd March 2014. AP state Elections Authorities issued clarification to the district administration to include and allow. BC candidature in BC-E category to contest GHMC 2014 elections. From the BC reserved seats i.e. of 34% vide their orders no.5249/Elec/2014 Doc 1312 dtd. 11-3-2014 issued from the office of the Principal Secretary Muncipal Administration and UD/Govt of AP.
It would not be out of place to mention that total ward members is State Municipalities limits are 3990 out of which 148 members are of Municipal councils and 10 of Muncipal Corporations as such in last GHMC elections Mayor has been elected under the reservation quota i.e. ‘BC-E’. However, by virtue of GO MS No 23, Govt have already included 14 categories under Backward classes of Muslims under BC-E category. Later this has been subsequent by GO MS No 504 dated 7/8/2009 where in Government has included category “E” amongst the other categories A/B/C/D.
Mr. Iftequar Ahmed on behalf of the front appealing the candidates belonging to BC-E category may now contest the elections from the BC reserved Quota without any hindrance as such this was increase the representation of Muslims in local bodies.
