BC association urges govt to release Rs 2200 crores

Andhra Pradesh State Backward Classes Welfare Association has demanded that the State government release Rs 2,200 crores within eight days for disbursal of scholarships.

In a press release, association president R. Krishnaiah criticized the Finance department for rejecting release fee-reimbursement and scholarships from the Treasuries. He also criticized the State government for only releasing Rs 400 crores, out of Rs 2200 crores.

Krishnaiah also alleged that the State government had diverted the funds for scholarships and fee-reimbursement to the irrigation projects. He lamented that mess was closed in 320 hostels as the State government failed to release diet charges. He also alleged that the Finance department was wantonly adopting anti-BC attitude and blocking the grants for fee-reimbursement and scholarships. (NSS)
