BBMP polls: People didn’t accept our proposals, says Congress

Bengaluru: The Congress Party on Tuesday accepted defeat in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections and said the people have not accepted their proposals despite the BJP`s misrule.

“Whatever we thought that we will develop Bengaluru and will improve it has not been accepted by the people of Bengaluru,” said Karnataka Congress president G. Parmeshwar.

“After five-year of misrule of the BJP, people of the city have pardoned them and voted for them and we have accepted that mandate,” he added.

Parmeshwar, however, said that it would not be possible at this point of time to disclose the reasons for the Congress` dismal show.

“It`s very difficult to conclude that what went wrong at this point of time,” he said.

The BJP added yet another feather to its cap and emerged victorious in 99 seats in the BBMP polls.

The Congress achieved victory in 75 seats. The JD (S) bagged 14 seats while the others won in eight seats.
