Battle against extremism is fight of good versus evil: Tillerson

Riyadh: Asserting that fight of good against evil has nothing to do with religion or any country, United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has said that the battle against extremism is a fight of good versus evil.

“As I think all of you know, the President leaves tomorrow to travel to Tel Aviv, and then after that, the Vatican to have an audience with the Pope. And I think the context of all of this where the President begins his journey here at the home of the Muslim faith under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque – this great faith, the Muslims – then to travel to the home of Judaism and then to the great leader of Christianity, that the President is clearly indicating that this fight of good against evil has nothing to do with religion. It has nothing to do with country. It has nothing to do with ethnicity,” Tillerson said during a joint press conference with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir.

“This is clearly a fight against good and evil,” he added.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump, during his speech at the Arab-Islamic-U.S. Summit, called on Muslim nations to drive out extremism and described the battle against terrorism as a fight between good and evil.

“A better future is only possible if your nations drive out the terrorists and extremists. Drive. Them. Out. Drive them out of your places of worship. Drive them out of your communities. Drive them out of your holy land, and drive them out,” Trump said.

“If we do not act against this organized terror, then we know what will happen. Terrorism’s devastation of life will continue to spread. Peaceful societies will become engulfed by violence. And the futures of many generations will be sadly squandered, he added.

“If we do not stand in uniform condemnation of this killing-then not only will we be judged by our people, not only will we be judged by history, but we will be judged by God,” he further said.

Pointing that the battle against terrorism is a battle between barbaric criminals who seek to obliterate human life, and decent people of all religions who seek to protect it and not a battle between different faiths, different sects, or different civilizations.

“This is a battle between Good and Evil,” he said. (ANI)
