Batla House encounter: JMI students organise candle march

New Delhi: On the eve of the 10th anniversary of Batla House encounter, students of Jamia Millia Islamia and Jawaharlal Nehru University organised a candle march from Premchand maqbara and ended at the place where the encounter was done; passing through Azeem Dairy and Batla House. Later all the students gathered in the courtyard of Masjid Khaleelullah and addressed the public. The newly elected union members of JNU including president NS Sai Bala and Kanwal Preet Kaur also participated in the candle march. The protesters slammed the governments for not ordering a judicial probe into the encounter. They said the incident is a blot on the face of the country. They pledged to continue raising voice till justice is done.

The protestors demanded that the present government conduct a judicial probe into the shootout which claimed lives of two Azamgarh youths and a Delhi Police officer on 19th September 2008 at Batla House area of Jamia Nagar in New Delhi.
