Hyderabad: Bathukamma sari distribution was continuing in the State like a festival. The women-folk were lining up to receive their saris at the tents and programs organized for the purpose.
The State government launched the popular Bathukamma saris distribution program on December 19 as it was earlier kept in abeyance due to polls for the Assembly. Across all districts, the administration has made arrangements for smooth distribution of the Bathukamma saris. While TRS leader T Harish Rao started the program at Siddipet on the first day, TRS MP from Bhongir Dr Boora Narsaiah Goud took up the program at Sansthan Narayapur here.
The ruling party spokesperson and MLC Karne Prabhakar also attended the program and gave away the saris to the women in the queue. The TRS government has sent as many as 90 lakh saris in about 80 models with golden border that are being appreciated by the women on receiving one. At Nalgonda, MLA-elect Kancharla Bhupal Reddy and in Halia MLA-elect Nomula Narsimhaiah participated in the sari distribution program. It will continue till all the stocks of the Bathukamma saris are given to the women who will celebrate Bathukamma during Sankranthi festival in January.
