Guntur, August 09: Senior TDP leader and former Rajya Sabha Member Laljan Basha, expressing his concern about drought situation in Andhra Pradesh, today slammed Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for his “despair” and “preoccupation” with encouraging defections to the Congress from other parties.
He alleged that Chief Secretary of the state failed to submit a report on drought situation to the Prime Minister at recently held Chief Secretaries meet.
Basha advised Reddy to shun his despondency, take the opposition parties into confidence in evolving a plan to mitigate the hardship of the people and securing central assistance.
Reddy should stop charging the opposition parties with politicizing the drought situation, he said.
Though Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is an outstanding economist, his knowledge of Agriculture appears to be superficial, he said.
