Barca reach CL quarters with 5-1 aggregate win over Arsenal

London: Defending champions Barcelona continued their rich vein of form as they advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League after comprehensively defeating Arsenal 5-1 on aggregate .

Barca held a 2-0 advantage heading into the game and then went on to claim a thumping 3-1 win over Arsene Wenger’s side in their second leg round-of-16 at Camp Nou, courtesy of goals from Neymar, Lionel Messi and a Luis Suarez stunner.

Brazilian striker Neymar extended the lead of the Catalan giants and effectively brought an end to the contest in the 18th minute, the Mirror reported.

Arsenal pulled one back through Mohamed Elneny before Luis Suarez scored a goal with a superb scissor-kick and Messi added a third with a sumptuous dink over David Ospina.

With the win, Barca have extended their unbeaten run to 38 games and this was their 10th consecutive Champions League win at the Camp Nou. (ANI)
