Barak: I’m invited to Turkey

Ankara, December 18: Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak says he is invited to visit Turkey for talks with the officials of the country with whom relations have been frosty over the past year.

“Today I met the Turkish ambassador, who delivered to me an invitation to travel to Turkey,” AFP quoted Barak as saying on Thursday.

“The question of relations (with Ankara) is of utmost importance given the ups and downs our relations have had this year,” Barak said.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was among the world leaders who strongly condemned the Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip earlier this year.
