Barack Obama to arrive in Delhi on Jan 25 at 10 AM: MEA

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin on Thursday, while giving details of the itinerary of the US President, said that Obama’s visit is being seen as strengthening of ties across the full spectrum of India-US relationship.

Akbarudding told reporters that US is India’s key interlocutor in adjustments to global security architecture and that India sees vast potential in growth in its relations with the United States of America.

While giving details of the itinerary of the US President’s three-day visit to India, he said the President will visit Taj Mahal on 27 January before departing for US.

Union Coal, Power and Renewable Energy Minister Piyush Goyal will be the minister-in-waiting for US President Barack Obama during his visit to India for this year’s Republic Day celebrations.

Security has been stepped up along the international border between India and Pakistan and in the capital in view of the U.S. President’s visit.

Obama will arrive in New Delhi on January 25 to take part in Republic Day celebrations on the invitation of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
