Mumbai, June 27: A 42-year-old bar owner and property developer committed suicide on Friday evening by shooting himself at his office. Heavy debts are believed to have driven him to take the drastic step.
Mahesh Anant Naik alias Ganesh shot himself on the right side of his temple with his licensed revolver at his Arya Developers office at Sheetal Nagar in Mira Road around 6.05 pm. Naik, who owned the Aishwarya Bar and Restaurant, located next to his office, pulled the trigger as he was worried about repaying his debts.
Naik shot himself, reportedly after an argument with two of his associates.
Naik lived with his wife, six-year-old son and mother at Mira Road. Naik has been in the hotel business for a long time. Later, he got into the property development business. According to people who knew Naik, he had run into heavy debts and was unable to sell off his properties.
