Johannesburg : European football federation UEFA has confirmed that their banned president Michel Platini is still receiving his salary and will continue to be paid until further notice despite his eight-year ban by FIFA from all football-related activities.
The confirmation came after FIFA reported that their banned president Sepp Blatter would continue to be paid until a new president is elected on February 26.
Meanwhile, UEFA further said that CONCACAF’s former president Jeffrey Webb’s contract had been terminated and that he had not been receiving any money from the organization.
The European football governing body, however, declined to reveal Platini’s salary, saying that individual salaries were of a confidential nature and therefore couldn’t be disclosed, Sport24 reported.
Blatter and Platini have been serving an eight-year ban from all football-related activities over claims that the latter had received a ‘ disloyal payment ‘ of 1.35 million pounds from the outgoing president in 2011.
In addition to lengthy bans, Blatter and Platini were also fined 50,000 and 80,000 Swiss francs respectively. (ANI)
