Several Unions from Banking Industry will take part in the one-day national general strike which will be organised across the country tomorrow against the UPA Government’s ‘anti-labour policies.’ The strike was called by all the Central trade unions in which nearly 10 crore workers are participating. Informing this to UNI today, All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) General Secretary C H Venkatachalam said the Association has called upon all the eight lakh employees, including officers across the country, to join the strike.
He said apart from the AIBEA, National Confederation of Bank Employees (NCBE), All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA), Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) Indian National Bank Employees Federation (INBEF), National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW), National Organisation of Bank Officers (NOBO), Bank Karamchari Sena Mahasangh (BKSM) All India Reserve Bank Employees Association (AIRBEA) All India Reserve Bank Workers Federation (AIRBWF) All India Co-op.Bank Employees Federation (AICBEF) All India NABARD Employees Association (AINBEA) All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association (AIRRBEA) All India Gramin Bank Employees Association (AIGBEA) and All India Gramin Bank Officers Association (AIGBOA) will take part in the strike. Mr Venkatachalam also said the strike will be observed in State Bank of India, in all old generation private banks, Foreign Banks like Standard Charted Bank, Citi Bank, HSBC, Bank of Tokyo.
The AIBEA General Secretary said it was mainly demanding concrete measures to contain price rise, strict enforcement of all Labour Laws and protection of Trade Union rights, not to privatise Public Sector, stoppage of outsourcing, Banking and Insurance Sector Reforms, Bonus for all and against imposition of Khandelwal Committee Report.
