Banks owe Rs. 12 thousand crore to Minorities

The bankers of A.P. owe Rs. 12,000 crore to the Minorities of the State. Under the 15 point programme of the Prime Minister, loans are granted to Minorities out of this allocated amount Rs. 12,000 crore could not be distributed so far.

The bankers will very soon issue suitable instructions to all the branches to fix up the targets in Minorities concentration areas and release loans to Minorities. Bankers have no blacklisted areas in their terminology. It is, therefore, obligatory on the part of the bakers to release loans in every area. This was revealed in the meeting of the bankers held recently.

The bankers’ meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammed Ilyas Rizvi. He invited the attention of the convenor of the lead bank on this issue. He assured that Minorities Finance Corporation will be informed about the loans sanctioned to the Minorities within two weeks. In the meeting, the representatives of the Andhra Bank State Bank and Lead District Mangers were present.

It was decided that bankers’ meetings will be held soon at district levels and action will be taken in distribute Rs. 12,000 to Minorities. In addition to this, quarterly review meetings will also be conducted. Since no loans were distributed for the past three years, the amounts of loans piled up. The banker are now serious about sanctioning the loans.
