Hyderabad, December 13: It is not a hidden secret that the Minorities of this state, are financially and educationally backward.There is a common complaint that banks dont provide loans to Minorities in adequate numbers. In a state level meeting of the bankers convened by Govt of A.P bankers presented surprising figures about the grant of loans to Minorities. In the report, presented in the meeting it was states that loans were granted to Minorities to the tune of Rs. 11,776 crore.
On the claim of sanctioning heavy loans to Minorites,Dr.Mohammed Ilyas Rizvi, Managing Director of A.P State Minorities Finance Corporation was surprised. To substantiate their claim, the bankers did not submit the details of the loans sactioned to minorities. In the bankers meeting, the sanctioning of loans to Minorities was neglected as usual.
Mr.N.Kiran Kumar Reddy also didn’t mention anything about Minorities and backward classes.All of his attention was on the problems related to farmers in the speeches of the Minorites and the chairman of state levels bankers also there was no mention of any loan.
Through the report,it was stated that 7.23% Minorities have been covered whereas 15% should have been covered. The report says that steps would be taken to establish branches of the banks in minority concentration areas and adequate number of loans will be sanctioned to them so that the target of 15% could be acheived till March 2012.
The report says that Central Finance Minister has sent a circular to all the Public Sector banks to ensure the sanction of 15% of the loans should be given to Minorities M.D of Minoriteis Finance Corporation gave the details of Rs 250 crore spent on the grant of scholarships of the students.
