On Wednesday, police remove the body of a banker from a grave who had died last month, after his son made a complaint, suspecting that the death was mysterious.
Ankaiah, 57year-old, who worked for Union Bank of India in Gandhinagar, had collapsed and died in his home on January 28. Nagarathna, his wife, daughter Jhansi Rani and son-in-law Pandiyan — who were all at home at that time — later buried him in a graveyard near Shanthinagar, according to police.
Suresh Babu, his son, however, on February 9 made a complaint to the police, suspecting that the death was mysterious.
As Ankaiah two daughters married against his wish, he had expelled his two daughters, from home and even decided to “disinherit” them, Babu said and claimed that the deceased wanted to make him (Babu) his lone inheritor.
As Nagarathna and others in the family had opposed Ankaiah’s decision and therefore killed him, police said, citing Babu.
Based on the complaint lodged by Babu, Nagarathna was summoned to the police station for questioning. She is said to have told the police that her husband died of heart attack. The body was disintered in the presence of the tahsildar and soon after sent to the Ambedkar Hospital for post-mortem.
