New Delhi: Seventeen people disguised as labour ministry employees duped a leading bank for Rs 93.80 lakh, the police said today.
A case has been registered on a complaint by an employee of ICICI Bank with the crime branch, police added as per a report by TOI.
The accused people took loans from the bank of Rs 93.80 lakh by submitting fake ID cards and other documents of the ministry.
The fraud happened in 2016 and following the discovery of the fraud, an internal inquiry was conducted by the bank, police said. After the inquiry found that the loans had been taken on the basis of fake documents, they approached the police and a case was registered.
Police have started investigating the matter and will also be questioning the bank employees who were associated with clearing the loans.
