Bangladesh’s PM Hasina gifts 50 Crore land on eve of Durga Puja

Bangladesh’s PM Sheikh Hasina has gifted one and a half Bigha land to Hindu community on the eve of Durga Puja this week.

Hasina’s visit to the biggest temple in the country Dhakeshwari Temple came as a surprise when she announced gifting the adjacent land to the temple authorities. The land is worth nearly 50 crores Bangladeshi taka (Rs 43 Crore), Indiatv news reports.

Most of the property is already lost to land grabbers and now the PM has decided to gift away the remaining property worth 60 crores at a discounted price of Rs 10 crore.

Though Islam is the state religion, the Awami league’s biggest supporter has been the Hindu community ever since the party was formed and this was proved to be true with around 30,000 peaceful Durga Puja celebrations were organized across the country.

Hasina’s party slogan ‘Dhormo JaarJaar, Utsob Shobar’ (religion is individual right but festivities belong to all) sure has a way to win elections which are due in the month of December.
