Chittagong [Bangladesh]: Bangladesh need another 33 runs with two wickets remaining to clinch their maiden Test victory over England after closing Day four of the opening match on 253-8 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Sunday.
Chasing a target of 286 runs for their first win in nine tests against England, Bangladesh reached 253 for eight before bad light ended the day’s play.
Openers Imrul Kayes and Mominul Haque provided their side a decent start by scoring a 46-run stand for the second wicket.
Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (39) was other notable contributor for the hosts.
At stumps, debutant Sabbir Rahman and Taijul Islam were batting at their respective scores of 59 and 11.
For England, Gareth Batty scalped three wickets while Moeen Ali and Stuart Broad shared four wickets between themselves.
Adil Rashid also chipped in with a wicket.
Earlier, England lost their final two wickets within just four overs, thus adding just 12 runs to their overnight second-innings total of 228 for nine before they were bundled out for 240.(ANI)
