A day after the Government of Bangladesh blocked Skype, Twitter and Imo, all social media platforms have been unblocked today.
According to The Daily Star, Mobile phone operators and internet service providers in the country resumed the services after getting a letter from the telecom regulator this afternoon.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Shahjahan Mahmood said that they are only following instructions from the government authorities.
Facebook, Viber and WhatsApp were blocked on November 18, soon after prominent opposition leaders, Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed, were executed for war crimes committed during the Liberation War of 1971.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) earlier asked all mobile phone operators and telecom service providers, in a letter, to suspend the services immediately, said a top official of a mobile phone operator. (ANI)
