Bangalore, September 17: The search for 18-month-old boy Vijai, who fell into a drain inundated by storm water in Bangalore on Wednesday morning, resumed on Thursday. The search was abandoned in the evening due to poor light.
The incident has however brought to fore the callous attitude of the Bangalore municipal authorities. The insensitive administration had shirked its responsibility for the incident soon after it happened and had held the parents responsible for the mishap.
The child had fallen into an open drain. Instead of continuing with the search through the night the operation was stopped citing visibility problem.
Moreover, the flow of the water was not stopped. It led to the question on the callous attitude of Brahut Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) officials.
The Karnataka chief minister has already announced a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the boy’s kin even before his fate was known.
