Bandh peaceful, big success: YSRCP

YSR Congress Party today claimed that the state bandh called by its party to protest power crisis in the state was big success. Addressing a media conference at the party office here, YSRCLP Deputy Leader SobhaNagi Reddy said the bandh was peaceful and successful except for a few stray incidents and thanked the people of the state for voluntarily responding to the bandh call despite the combined efforts of the Congress and TDP leaders to make it a failure. She charged the police, under the instructions of the government, have taken several YSRCP leaders into preventive custody on the eve of the bandh and put some leaders under house arrest to ensure the bandh did not succeed. Criticizing the police for resorting to lathi charge to scare YSRCP activists at several places, the party MLA called the police action ‘undemocratic’ and ‘brutal’. She said all sections of people, including farmers, students, workers, industrialists, businessmen and others voluntarily supported the bandh call as they were adversely affected by the power crisis. Observing that the TDP has joined hands with the Congress to scuttle the bandh, she said it once again proved that TDP was in collusion with the Congress Party. UNI
