Bandh by Maoists: bus services affected

The 48-hour bandh call given by Maoists had its impact on North Coastal Andhra districts and Andhra Orissa Border (AOB) here today with road communications coming to a grinding halt even as business establishments and government offices were open in many parts during the day.

The Bandh were peaceful. The banned CPI Maoists of Korukonda area Committee gave 48 hrs bandh call in the districts of Vizianagaram, Srikakulam Visakhapatnam and Andhra Orissa Border (AOB) Tribal Agency Areas and others. They were demanding stop of green hunt operation and police combing Operations,release of innocent tribals booked on charge of being Maoists. A report from Paderu said Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation(APSRTC) bus service was paralysed resulting in no movement from 11 Agency Mandals in the district.

The bandh call was given by North Zone Division of Banned Maoists and AOB Agency Areas affects bus serices cancelled.

In the meanwhile, the korukonda area Committee has released banners and Posters.

The Committee Stated that the Maoist Martyrs Memorial Week would be held from July 28 to August 3 and appealed to the people to make the Event a Success. The Posters were pasted and banners were tied to the paderu-kumada RTC Buss. The police removed the posters and banners soon after the bus reached Municingiputtu mandal in the District. UNI
