Hyderabad: Demanding the State government to make Chevella as district head-quarter of Ranga Reddy district, all-party leaders, Zilla Sadana Samithi leaders observed Chevella bandh here on Sunday.
The people reached on to the roads to make the bandh a big success. The locals seized Hyderabad-Bizapur, Mumbai-Bengaluru highways leading to a standstill of traffic for hours. The decision of the government to merge Moinabad, Shankarpally and Shabad mandals in Shamshabad district angered the Chevella youth, who were already on agitation path demanding to make the Chevella as district head quarter of the Rangareddy district.
The youth in big numbers reached on to roads and on the other hand shops were closed voluntarily. The RTC has stopped plying of buses. The youth didn’t allow not even bikes at chowrastas. They placed Mission Baghiratha pipes on the road and obstructed the movement of the vehicles successfully. At some places, the youth burnt tyres.
The police played a spectator role though the traffic struck for several hours. The commuters faced horrific moments due to Bandh and they waited for several hours. In the afternoon, DSP Srutha Keerthi and SI Bheem Kumar convinced the agitators and regulated the traffic. But in Chevella, the traffic not cleared till evening. (NSS)
