Mysore, July 04: Security forces are on high alert in Mysore in the wake of a bandh called by Hindu groups following communal tension in the town since Thursday.
In fresh violence on Friday, two more persons received serious stab wounds. Giridhar, a BJP activist, and his friend Wajid were attacked with sharp weapons by two motor-borne persons at Pulikeshinagar area last evening, police said.
The two were chatting in front of their house when they were attacked, police said, adding the accused were yet to be identified. Javed, brother of Wajid, immediately rushed both to a hospital.
With this, five persons have been stabbed since Thursday night and three others killed in violence, which erupted over the alleged desecration of a Madrasa here.
Though the police rushed reinforcements to the area to prevent violence from spreading, three men received stab injuries last night and are being treated in a hospital.
Two batallions of RAF deployed in the troubled areas staged a flag march yesterday to instill confidence among fear-stricken residents.
The fresh attack on Giridhar and Wajid has baffled the police over the motive of the attackers.
