Jhalawar, September 28: Bandh still affects normal life in the Manoharthana area of Jhalawar after tension prevailed for the third day even as administrative officials tried to pacify the members of Bhil community on Wednesday.
The Bandh was forced after two persons of the tribe were killed in a clash with the police on Monday, while one more person died on Tuesday, after a tribal woman was raped by three persons of a minority community. Around 25 policemen were also injured in the scuffle.
According to the police, a compensation of Rs 5 lakh was given to the kin of the deceased, following which the tribals decided to call off the agitation. Now the administration is trying to provide government job to one of the members of the family of the three deceased, as earlier announced by chief minister Ashok Gehlot.
Sources said a few Bhil agitators tried to create a law and order situation and entered the police chowki when no one was present. However, senior police officers did not confirm the incident.
A senior police official said teams conducted patrolling in the affected areas and appealed to the people to maintain law and order. He said the situation is under control, and no violent incidents were reported. However, extra force has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, a BJP delegation including former chief minister Vasundhara Raje would visit Jhalawar on Thursday and meet the affected Bhil families.
