Ban cow slaughter: VHP, BGRSP

Hyderabad: Bharathiya Govamsha Rakshana Samvardhana Parishath (BGRSP) and Telangana Vishwa Hindu Parishath Goraksha Vibhag have demanded that the Telangana State government implement the 1977 Sections 5, 6, 10 and 11 of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 on the occasion of Bakrid festival in Telangana State.

Addressing a press conference here today, M. Ramraju, T VHP President, Y. Bhanu Prakash, Telangana Bajrang Dal Convenor, urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to ban slaughtering of animals like other States respecting sentiments of Hindus. They said the State government has to respect the sentiments of the Hindus keeping the benefits providing to other religions in mind.

They further warned that they will wage a war against the Telangana government in case the government failed to implement the provisions of the Act. They also expressed happiness over some Muslim organizations exhorting their community people not to slaughter animals during festivals. There was a need to punish those who were influencing the innocent Muslims with vote bank politics insulting the sentiments of Hindus. (NSS)
