Ramanathapuram (TN): BJP National Executive Secretary H Raja today called for a common civil code, ban on conversion and implementation of family planning, to maintain the present percentage of population of people belonging to various religions.
“There should be a common civil code and ban on conversion. One family one child norm should be implemented for all, irrespective of religion to maintain the present percentage of population of various religions,” he told reporters.
However, the Congress and Left parties would not allow bills in this regard to be passed, he alleged.
Referring to the situation in Gujarat which witnessed violence over the last two days during the stir of the Patel community for reservation under OBC quota, he alleged police had detained eight persons and found they belonged to Bihar and not to the community.
He alleged that the violence in that state had been instigated, but did not elaborate, and asked the government to be cautious.
Referring to the 2016 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, he hoped the BJP’s alliance with PMK and DMDK would continue.
He said a two state-level training programmes would be held in Peramablur from August 31 for BJP cadres on how to work for the party’s victory in the coming assembly polls.
He claimed the Centre had sanctioned thousands of crores of rupees for Tamil Nadu for various projects, including expansion of Tuticorin and Ennore ports, AIIMS hospitals and Smart cities.
Raja said support for BJP had increased and 40 lakh members had been enrolled in the state.
