Hyderabad: The Congress decided to rope in Telangana NSUI president Venkat Balmoor as their candidate for the Huzurabad by-polls to be held on October 30.
Balmoor, was the president of the National Student Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Indian National Congress. After sufficient deliberation, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) finalized his name for the much awaited Huzurabad elections.
IT is reported that TPCC chief Revanth Reddy and party state in-charge Manickam Tagore took the decision after receiving approval for the same from the All India Congress Committee. There was however criticism from the ruling party that Congress failed to finalize its candidate for the polls.
The TRS fielded its student wing chief Gellu Srinivas Yadav as the candidate, and Etela Rajender was chosen from the BJP for the bypoll. The Election Commission recently announced the schedule for the by-poll to be held on October 30 and results are to be announced on November 2. The Congress is to conduct campaigns in this segment for the bypoll.
