Varanasi, January 06: Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi today demanded immediate resignation of NHRC Chairman K G Balakrishnan in view of allegations againt his kin of amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.
“A close relative of Balakrishnan has been found involved in alleged corrupt practices and doubts are also being raised about former CJI’s role in it,” Joshi told reporters in Nadeshsar area of the city.
He said, “Today when the whole country is expecting credibility and transparency in all constitutional bodies, someone like Balakrishnan, who has held the post of Chief Justice of India, should voluntarily resign as chairman of the National Human Rights Commission in line with the healthy traditions”.
