Mumbai: Superstar Salman Khan’s on-screen journey from India to Pakistan in “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” has hit the jackpot at the box office with its victorious run since its release on July 17. The film raked in Rs.20.05 crore on Saturday, zooming past the Rs.200 crore mark.
“The Kabir Khan directorial, which collected Rs.197.77 crore till Friday, minted Rs.20.05 crore (India), taking the cumulative total to Rs.217.82 crore,” the film’s spokesperson said in a statement.
The movie narrates a heart-warming tale of an Indian man (played by Salman) and a mute girl from Pakistan (essayed by child artist Harshaali Malhotra) and the bond they develop during their road trip to Pakistan. It chronicles the adventures they stumble upon during their odyssey.
Trade guru Taran Adarsh lauded the success of the film, which also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Kareena Kapoor Khan, on micro-blogging site Twitter.
“#BajrangiBhaijaan continues to take giant strides. Witnesses massive jump on Saturday. Week 2: Friday 13.15 cr, Saturday 20.05 cr. Total: Rs. 217.82 cr,” Adarsh shared.
Another trade analyst Komal Nahta was also ecstatic over the film’s figures as he tweeted: “Bajrangi crosses 200 crore in 9 days! Fantabulous!”
