Chennai :Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much touted ‘Bajirao Mastani’ will be dubbed in Tamil and Telugu to reach a wider audience, the producers have said.
Popular Tamil lyricist Madhan Karky, who has penned dialogue for the mega hits ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Enthiran’ (Robot), will be working on the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer in Tamil, a release here said.
Ramajogayya Sastry will write the dialogue for the film’s Telugu version.
“Bajirao Mastani has been a story I have been yearning to tell and I am glad that cine goers in the south regions will get to watch the film in their own language,” Bhansali was quoted as saying.
“This is a dream I have lived with for several years and I’m looking forward to audiences across markets living my dream with me,” he added.
Nandu Ahuja, Senior Vice President, India Theatrical, Eros International Media Ltd said that following the success of films in this genre in the south markets, “we felt encouraged to dub Bajirao Mastani in Tamil and Telugu. A film of this epic scale and exceptional story telling demanded that we penetrate as wide as possible,” she added.
Also starring Priyanka Chopra, the film is slated for a December 18, global release.
Recently, Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP) was dubbed in Tamil as “Meymaranden Parayo”.
