New Delhi, May 05: Bajaj Auto, the country’s largest manufacturer of three wheelers, today said it will launch two new products on two new platforms by June. ”We will be launching two new products (three wheelers) on two new vehicle platforms by the end of the current quarter (April-June),” company CEO (commercial vehicles) R C Maheswari told reporters here today.
While one of them will be in the passenger segment, the other offering will be in the cargo category, he informed.
”We will launch the RE 445L diesel in the passenger segment and the RE 900 in the cargo segment,” he said.
The company also unveiled today its new range of ‘RE’ passenger vehicles which are BS-III compliant and available in both CNG and LPG variants.
Under the new range of RE passenger vehicles, the RE205D has been priced at Rs 1,27,300 and the RE205M will be available at a price point of Rs 1,36,840 (both CNG) (ex-showroom Delhi).
The company is eyeing to sell about 3,500-4,000 units of the newly launched three wheelers per month, Mr Maheswari said.
With the launch of these two vehicles, the company is further looking to strengthen its market share in the areas where CNG is available.
”Apart from Delhi, we are also looking at doing significant numbers in cities like Bhopal and Indore where CNG is available,” Mr Maheswari said.
Asked about the amount invested on the product development, he said, ”normally we spend about Rs 10-15 crore on a development of a product on a single platform and since we are working on five of them, the investment comes to around Rs 75 crore,” he said.
