New Delhi, June 30: A city court Tuesday rejected the bail plea of a couple accused of kidnapping a two-year-old girl from India Gate here earlier this month.
Metropolitan Magistrate Jitender Mishra dismissed the bail application of Jugal Kishore and Rekha, saying that the police probe in the case was at initial stages and their plea did not have any merit.
“Keeping in view the nature of the offence and the facts of the case, in my considered opinion, accused are not entitled to get bail at this stage,” Mishra said.
The couple earlier also sought release, saying that they had been framed and arrested after the recovery of the missing child.
The couple, from Raghubir Nagar here, was remanded to judicial custody till July 8. They are accused of kidnapping Yashasvi alias Gungun, who went missing on June 18 from India Gate where her parents had gone for an outing. The child was later found at the Jhandewalan temple.
