They also gathered in front of a court in the capital, Manama, on Monday to protest the trial of political prisoners.
Top Bahraini opposition figures including leader of the al-Wefaq group Ali Salman also attended the demonstration in Manama.
Bahrainis also expressed solidarity with prominent jailed human rights activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, who has been on hunger strike for more than two months.
His wife said on Sunday that Khawaja “was drugged and force-fed against his will” on April 23, but a spokesperson for the Bahrain Defense Forces Hospital rejected the issue.
Khawaja, who holds dual Danish and Bahraini nationality, was given a life sentence in June 2011 over accusations of inciting protests against the Manama regime.
