This is the photograph of Rajiv Gandhi international airport where used to be an old mosque Masjid Omer Farooq but it has been annihilated during the construction of RGI airport. Today only its name remained.
Masjid Omer Farooq was located 22 kilometres away from Hyderabad where the international airport has been built on 5400 acre land at Shamsabad. Muslims used to perform prayers in the mosque.
Sadly the largest airport across the country has no place to offer prayer for Muslim passengers, taxi drivers and those who arrive there to see their relatives off. Hence people are seen offering prayers on either side of the roads.
Interestingly the airport serves 40 million passengers every year. The airport has the honour to be the only green field airport in India. A huge number of Muslim passengers benefit from the airport.
As per the passengers a mosque is imperative inside airport premises. Hope the dream of passengers come true!
