Bad roads: VHR demands KTR resignation

Congress senior leader and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao on Sunday demanded the resignation of Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K. Tarakarama Rao for government’s failure to maintain proper roads in the city.

Speaking to media persons here, VHR said that all roads in Hyderabad were in extremely bad shape. Poor maintenance of storm water drains was leading to stagnation at several places and many roads were literally turning into pools after every drizzle. Announcing that he would hold a day-long dharna on September 21, he said that KTR has failed to Monsoon Action Plan and travelling on city roads was proving to be a nightmare for all citizens. He said KTR was busy only in receiving awards and meeting foreign delegates.

VHR also demanded that the State Government take measures to remove illegal encroachments from Bathukamma Lake. He said he would organise two-day Deeksha if encroachments were not removed before next Bathukamma festival. (INN)
