Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal, who won Olympic bronze medal, received a rousing welcome at the Shamshabad international airport when she returned here on Tuesday.
Officials of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) received her with flower bouquets. A large number of family members, friends and sports-lovers also went to the airport to welcome the girl, who has done the country proud. She was later taken with traditional “Mangalavadyam” to the Gopichand Academy in Gachi Bowli where she trained.
However, the bus in which she was travelling to the Academy got stuck in the loose soil and slanted to a side. She got down and boarded the car of her coach Pullela Gopichand and proceeded to the center.
Earlier when she arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi, she was received by officials and fans. (NSS)
