BAC meets after bedlam, Budget on Feb 23

Hyderabad February 18: After the state Assembly was adjourned for the day, the Business Advisory Committee met under the leadership of deputy speaker Nadendla Manohar and discussed several issues including the agenda on Thursday.

It was decided that Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy would present the state Budget on February 23.

The Bill related to the Finance will be introduced on February 29.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would reply on the Governor’s speech on February 22. The session would continue till March 29.
Earlier, irrespective of party affiliations, Legislators belonging to Telangana region made history blocking the speech of Governor ESL Narasimhan who managed to read the report hurriedly within about 15 minutes in the state Assembly sitting for the Budget Session.

The incidents were sad evidence of the total failure of the security system.
Despite a vigil around the podium, the Telangana MLAs snatched away papers from the Governor’s hands and tore them to shreds, thus disrupting his joint address to the Legislatures.
For the first time, the House presented a battle field like scenes and resulting in total disarray, leaving most of the senior Members shocked.

The House also saw riotous scenes with pro-Telangana slogans renting the air prominent being ‘Go Back Governor’ slogans in the house.

In the melee, chairs and mikes were broken and no amount of marshals’ attempts dissuaded the protestors. Those trying to rush to the Speaker’s podium were removed by the marshals.
The shocked Governor was forced to leave the House abruptly through the back door, all the time being guarded by marshals. This was unlike anything ever witnessed earlier in the history of the state Assembly.
