Gorgeous Bollywood actress Dia Mirza, who is on a holiday in Africa with her family got a baby Rhinoceros named after her in Kenya. She is a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador and the brand ambassador of Wildlife Trust of India.
This is not the first time that an animal has been named after Dia. In 2010, Dia had adopted and named two leopard cubs Ashoka and Nakshatra from the Lucknow Zoo after being requested by the zoo authorities to do so. The Cubs’ mother was also named Dia.
Dia is known for providing her continues support to many environmental and social causes and has been recognized by the United Nations for her contribution to environmental conservation.
The message from the CEO of Ol Pejeta Conservancy reads,
Dear Dia Mirza:
We are proud to announce that we now have a rhino named Dia Mirza in honour of your outstanding career and work as a UN Goodwill Ambassador for Environment.
Dia Mirza is a female black rhino, born on 15th October 2017 on Ol Pejeta Conservancy. She is the fourth calf born to Nduta, and they reside together in the Southern Sector of the Conservancy. We look forward to partnering with you to further rhino conservation in Kenya and hope that you visit Ol Pejeta soon to see your beautiful Rhino.
