Sydney: A six-week old girl was found dead in a low-income home in Australia with her throat slit and other multiple stab wounds, media reported on Friday.
New South Wales police said the child was found dead at the home in Wallsend, near Newcastle, approximately 150 kms north of Sydney on Friday morning, reported Xinhua news agency.
News Corp Australia reported that the mother allegedly killed her baby and that the child’s father was home at the time.
Newcastle City Local Area Commander Superintendent John Gralton said several family members were at home at the time and one of them called police, Fairfax Media reported.
It’s believed the woman’s sister-in-law made the call at about 9 a.m.
