Hyderabad, July 14: A deceased four-day-old baby gave life to two children here today. Two organs from the deceased newborn were donated by the family.
The female baby was born to Hymavathi, a school teacher, and Kishore Kumar, a revenue inspector on July 8. Two days later, the baby developed complications and was put on the ventilator.
She expired on July 12 leaving the family in a state of shock.
The baby’s uncle, also named Kishore Kumar, motivated her parents to donate the child’s organs. After the family gave their consent, the MOHAN Foundation got involved and the baby was shifted to Innova Hospital in Secunderabad.
The baby’s heart valves and eyes were retrieved under sterile conditions.
K Raghuram, CEO of MOHAN Foundation, said such neonatal donors give a fresh lease of life to many unfortunate babies who are born with heart diseases.
